Xiaomi in collaboration with Octopus

As a major mobile handset manufacturer, sustainability is a hot topic for its customers. Klikpr suggested Xiaomi tap into this issue and established a collaboration with the Indonesian Tech Journalists Forum (Forwat) as well as startup Octopus to help recycle technology products, such as mobile phones, TVs and other electronics for proper disposal.
The campaign, acknowledged by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, was highly efficient, leveraging Xiaomi’s existing store locations for the e-Waste drop boxes.
This event actually prompted other mobile phone brands to follow Xiaomi’s footstep and pay more attention towards e-waste.
